Position Summary

Earth Fire Alliance (EFA) seeks a high‑velocity, mission‑driven sales leader to own and expand our Federal Civil portfolio as well as state, local, and international opportunities. This is a role for a closer—someone who thrives in complex environments, builds momentum with senior decision‑makers, and consistently turns opportunities into long‑term, multimillion‑dollar wins.

The Director of Federal Civil Business Development will lead the full capture lifecycle to secure the funding and contracts that power global operations of the FireSat Program. This role will directly shape how the world detects, understands, and responds to wildfire. This critically important member of Team EFA will be directly responsible for achieving annual funding targets and securing multimillion-dollar contracts with the U.S. federal government, state and regional agencies, and international organizations.

About Earth Fire Alliance

Earth Fire Alliance (EFA) is a global nonprofit coalition building the technological infrastructure the world needs to detect, monitor, and understand fire — and delivering critical data to the firefighters, scientists, and communities who need it most. EFA’s flagship program, FireSat, is the first satellite constellation designed specifically to address the wildfire challenge: generating an unprecedented dataset on fire and its effects on people and the planet. Emerging programs FireImpact and FireConnect translate data into scientific knowledge and local action to close gaps, build resilience, and put fire insights to work on the ground. Grounded in radical collaboration and united by the belief that every community deserves to coexist confidently with fire, EFA partners with operational agencies, scientists, and technologists across continents to make fire data globally accessible, actionable, and available for the public good.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and exceed annual funding and revenue targets across the Federal Civil sector.
  • Drive the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through capture, proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Convert high‑value pipeline opportunities into closed‑won contracts through persistent follow‑through and strategic stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead end‑to‑end capture management for major government solicitations, ensuring competitive, compelling, and compliant submissions.
  • Lead contract negotiations and pricing strategies to maximize funding and ensure growth and EFA mission.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers across U.S. federal agencies, state/regional organizations, and international partners.
  • Engage end user organizations and procurement officials early to shape and accelerate upcoming solicitations in coordination with other members of the EFA team.
  • Maintain deep situational awareness of the U.S. and international fire, space, and emergency management ecosystem.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) including Other Transaction Authorities (OTAs) and other relevant procurement frameworks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop winning proposals and align BD strategy with organizational priorities.

  • Proven track record of personally closing $10M+ in Federal Civil revenue.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in working with U.S. Government Federal Civil Departments and Agencies in direct sales, acquisition, and/or contracting positions.
  • Experience in wildfire, environmental, remote sensing, or emergency management markets required.
  • Strong technical understanding of satellite capabilities and public safety mission needs.
  • Demonstrated mastery of navigating complex FAR cycles, including OTAs and other applicable federal, state, and international procurement approaches.
  • Experience building, managing, and executing a robust sales and business development pipeline to ensure tracking of key BD initiatives and to improve financial forecasting.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • A team-first mindset.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time virtual position, typically 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to coordinate with a global team across multiple time zones.
